Container Loading Calculator

Estimate a shipment from your actual carton dimensions and weights, then compare volume and payload limits across three common container sizes.

Use your carton specification

Enter outside carton dimensions and both net tea weight and gross carton weight. The estimate uses the more restrictive of planning volume and payload; change the starting assumptions to match your forwarder.

Carton volume: 0.030 m³ · Starting usable-space factor: 90%; adjust for pallet footprint, bracing and loading method.

Planning estimate only. Starting container volumes (28 / 58 / 66 m³) and payloads (28,000 / 26,500 / 26,500 kg) are editable planning assumptions, not a guarantee for a particular unit. Actual internal dimensions, door opening, payload, pallet pattern, carton orientation and carrier rules vary. Confirm the container plate and loading plan with your forwarder before booking.

For many cartonized tea shipments, available volume can limit the load before payload does—but the result depends on carton dimensions, packing method and the specific container. Compare both limits above, and confirm the final loading plan with your forwarder before booking.

Estimate from the carton, not a generic density

Tea shipments use very different cartons: bulk leaf, teabag cut, powder and retail packs do not share one dependable packing density. Enter the outside dimensions, net tea weight and gross carton weight from the specification for the product you are quoting. The tool estimates carton count under both a planning volume allowance and a payload assumption, then uses the lower result.

How the estimate works

Carton volume is length × width × height. Estimated cartons by volume equal the planning container volume multiplied by the usable-space factor, divided by carton volume. Estimated cartons by payload equal the payload allowance divided by gross carton weight. Pallet footprints, carton orientation, bracing and loading restrictions reduce the theoretical count, so adjust the usable-space factor with your forwarder.

Confirm the exact equipment

The displayed container volumes and payloads are starting planning assumptions, not specifications for a particular unit. Equipment varies by carrier and container; confirm the door-plate payload, internal dimensions, pallet plan and applicable road limits before booking.
